TRANSFER OF NUNEATON ACADEMY TO NEW TRUST CONFIRMED

The Department for Education and the Regional Director (Regional Schools Commissioner) have approved the proposed transfer of Nuneaton Academy to the Tudor Grange Academies Trust following an Advisory Board meeting on 22 September. The transfer is expected to take place in January 2023.

Tudor Grange Academies Trust is a family of 12 schools including five secondary, one all-through academy and six primary academies all located in the Midlands. The Trust employs around 500 teachers and educates just under 8,000 pupils. Its story began in 2009 when the Tudor Grange School Solihull sponsored Tudor Grange Academy in Worcester. In 2013, Tudor Grange Academy Worcester was graded ‘Good’ by Ofsted for overall effectiveness and ‘Outstanding’ for leadership and management, and behaviour and safety.

Marion Plant, OBE FCGI, Chief Executive of the Midland Academies Trust said, “The new Trust shares many of our values around creating successful futures for pupils, being a family of schools, with a shared ethos focused on the core purpose of great teaching and learning. Nuneaton Academy is located close to some of the Tudor Grange Academies Trust schools and is well-placed to provide the support required to build on the Academy’s strengths.

“In the months ahead, we will work in partnership with the Tudor Grange Academies Trust and their CEO Claire Maclean to ensure that the progress and great work of Nuneaton Academy is maintained, and the school continues to thrive throughout this period as we continue to do the best for our pupils, staff, and community. I remain extremely proud of everything that pupils and staff at the school continue to achieve. We will help and support the process as far as possible and will do everything we can to ensure that there is no interruption to pupils’ education at Nuneaton Academy.”

Claire Maclean, CEO of the Tudor Grange Academies Trust said, “We are a Trust focused on providing great schools so that all children can flourish. Prioritising the wellbeing and success of the children in all our decision making has secured the success of our Trust in improving and maintaining twelve strong schools. We will be working closely with Marion Plant and her team to ensure that the interests of the children, the staff and the community remain at the centre of our decision making.”

A public information session to be held at Nuneaton Academy will be arranged in due course.
