Why come to Nuneaton Academy?
Once pupils join our family, we have the highest expectations of them so they can achieve to the very best of their ability. Our knowledge rich curriculum not only provides pupils with what they need to achieve their best in examinations such as their GCSEs, it also goes way beyond this. The knowledge they absorb lasts a lifetime so they can go on to have an impact on the world they will enter when they leave us. Lessons are focused, with solid routines and our teaching style ensures not a minute is wasted in the pursuit of this knowledge.
Outside of the classroom, we have a strong extra-curricular programme to provide pupils with additional opportunities such as the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme. In addition to this, pupils work on character education to ensure they leave us with gratitude, aspiration and courtesy.
This is more than a school. This is a community. If you decide to join us you will not only be a part of a wonderful community during your time here, you will ALWAYS be NA. Our people make NA what it is and we look forward to meeting you as soon as possible. If you want a school that is focused on creating successful futures for its young people, then this is the place for you.
Our Ethos
At Nuneaton Academy we believe that each child is entitled to an inheritance of deep and powerful knowledge that takes them right to the heart of what it means to be a child growing up in Nuneaton in the 21st century.
All pupils are entitled to our five-year knowledge rich curriculum- the ‘very best that has been thought and said’. We believe that this knowledge will allow our pupils to take part and shape conversations that steer our society and country.

Pastoral support at Nuneaton Academy
Our pupils have a pastoral leader who will have met them on their visit to Primary school and get to know them during Peek at three days. The Pastoral lead supports pupils both pastorally and academically. Our pupils have a form tutor who they will see during morning registration. Tutor time is about tutors working with tutees to ensure readiness for a day of learning, creating a culture for learning.

SEND support at Nuneaton Academy
At the Nuneaton Academy, we advocate that every teacher is a teacher of SEND. All children will have the right to a knowledge rich and balanced curriculum including full access to the National Curriculum and extra-curricular activities where appropriate. We create an environment that is nurturing and responsive to the social, emotional, physical and academic need of each individual pupil during their development and time with us. Our warm environment helps our pupils to thrive by providing them with platforms to explore their strengths and reach their full potential regardless of internal or external barriers to learning. We endeavour to create a community where parents/carers and teaching staff work in unity to support the needs of all pupils in our care and beyond.
Year 5 Transition opportunities
We work closely with their Primary Partner Schools to offer a variety of experiences to Key Stage 2 children. For some children in Year 5 the opportunity to visit their local secondary school can begin the bridging process. ‘Hands on’ activities and lessons involving children from Primary Schools working collaboratively with older pupils develops relationships and new skills. Our established programme called ‘Peek at a Morning’ runs throughout the school year and is focussed around offering a range of curriculum subjects. We also involve external providers to support the activities and learning which makes the experiences memorable.
Our programme is varied and provides curriculum opportunities easing children into a new environment through activities that stimulate and develop their learning. We encourage activities that lead to a ‘take away’ so children take home something they have learnt of made during their visit.
Year 6 Transition opportunities
Year 6 have the opportunity to attend e taster events in order to further support transition to us in September. These events are aimed particularly aimed at those who have our academy as one of their choices, but all pupils are invited, and we feel would be an excellent opportunity for your child to experience activities in both our Science department and our Food Technology department and learn in our wonderful facilities.
Each activity will involve an insight into our curriculum, meeting staff and pupils representatives at the Academy and practical work. Pupils are able to wear what they wish, but we recommend clothes to cook in. Pupils will be provided with safety and protective equipment where applicable.
Extra-Curricular Opportunities
We have a wide range of extra curricular activities on offer, all of the clubs are well attended.
